Tony Robbins - 10 Lessons I Learned From Anthony Robbins

By Chris Knight

Tony Robbins has been an inspiration for millions. Love him and his philosophy or not, it is undeniable that he has had a positive impact on millions of people. He has sold over 30-million motivational tapes, published three best-selling self-help books, more than 2 million people attended his seminars and another 10,000 (including myself) have attended his mastery university in Hawaii. His core products include Get The Edge - Unlimited Power - Date with Destiny - Mastery University and more.

Here are the top 10 lessons that I learned from Tony Robbins:

1) By altering your body's physiology, you can achieve an immediate change of your emotional state. The mind will follow whatever state your phsyical body is in and not vice-versa.

2) Ask specific questions of yourself (in your self-talk) to direct and control your attention to the various aspects of the human experience. The quality of your life is in direct proportion to the quality of the questions you ask of yourself.

3) Get leverage to create personal change by associating an old behavior with massive pain and the desired new behavior with massive pleasure. Tony is a big believer in the pain/pleasure principles of life and this applies in business as well.

4) When you get stuck, interupt your limiting pattern by doing something totally unexpected.

5) You can condition your behavior by visualizing it over and over again. This is not exactly unique to Tony Robbins, but he does reinforce this message in all of his products.

6) Goal-setting strategy: Know your end outcome; Take massive intelligent action; Have sensory-acuity to notice if you are getting the results you desire and if not; change your approach; and change *until* you get your end outcome.

7) Create a "Compelling future" by vividly imagining your end result to generate enthusiasm and power within yourself. The past does not equal the future. Find beliefs that support your goals and desires.

8) Youth is Power! This is one of Tony's beliefs. Even if you don't have fancy degrees, your youth can still mean power, flexibility and opportunity for your life.

9) Principles of CANI! CANI stands for Constant And Never-ending Improvement. It's a basic tenet of Tony Robbins.

10) NLP can be useful. NLP stands for Neuro Linguistic Programming and there are many NLP undertones in Tony's basic tenets. He went on to morph NLP into his own technology called "NAC" (Neuro Associative Conditioning).

Motivational Sayings - Ten Great Ones

Why read motivational sayings? For motivation! You might need a bit, if you can use last year's list of goals this year because it's as good as new. All of us can benefit from inspirational thoughts, so here are ten great ones.

"Be more concerned with your character than with your reputation. Your character is what you really are while your reputation is merely what others think you are." - Dale Carnegie

"Do not wait the time will never be 'just right.' Start where you stand, and work with whatever tools you may have at your command, and better tools will be found as you go along." - Napoleon Hill

"What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

"Some men see things as they are and say, "Why?" I dream of things that never were and say, "Why not?" - George Bernard Shaw

"A small trouble is like a pebble. Hold it too close to your eye and it fills the whole world and puts everything out of focus. Hold it at a proper distance and it can be examined and properly classified. Throw it at your feet and it can be seen in its true setting, just one more tiny bump on the pathway of life." - Celia Luce

"Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending." - Carl Bard

"I'm not telling you it is going to be easy - I'm telling you it's going to be worth it" - Art Williams

Motivational Sayings - Attitude

Attitude "There is little difference in people, but that little difference makes a big difference. The little difference is attitude. The big difference is whether it is positive or negative." - W. Clement Stone

"Nothing on earth can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude." - Thomas Jefferson

"A person cannot directly choose his circumstances, but he can choose his thoughts, and so indirectly, yet surely, shape his circumstances." - James Allen

"Man often becomes what he believes himself to be. If I keep on saying to myself that I cannot do a certain thing, it is possible that I may end by really becoming incapable of doing it. On the contrary, if I have the belief that I can do it, I shall surely acquire the capacity to do it even if I may not have it at the beginning." - Mohandas Karamchand (Mahatma) Gandhi

These are quotes that mean something to me. Hopefully one or two of them are also inspiring to you. If not, maybe they will motivate you to create your own motivational sayings.

We Always Have a Choice

Last Sunday, I brought my wife out for the weekend. We had a romantic dinner, and then enjoyed a very entertaining movie - Spiderman 3. However, please don’t get me wrong, I’m not going to discuss about that movie. (I’m a movie lover not a movie critic). What I’m going to discuss here is about something that was repeated over and over again during the movie, and was even used to close it: “We always have a choice“.

Although I found that message a bit “off-track" in an action/comedy/love movie like Spiderman 3, the message still had its own impact on me, or maybe on us. Do you realize that in life we always have a choice? I believe in fate, and since I’ve known my wife, I’ve believed in God as well. However, it doesn’t mean that we don’t have a choice eventhough everything may be pre-arranged by fate or God. Actually, our fate gives or pre-arranges many choices for us after an event. It’s our job to make a choice. Let’s take one of my stories as an example.

Last year, my ex-boss went bankrupt, and my ex-company dissolved. I was out of the job much faster than I expected. It was somehow my first job, and after less than a year in, I was out with 3 month worth of salary still being owed by my ex-boss. In addition, it wasn’t the only problem because before that a few months (when everything had been very good), my girlfriend (my wife now) and I had announced our wedding in July, and it was “just nice" when I was out of the job in May (2 months before our wedding).

It was fate. I couldn’t do anything to change it, could I? However, I knew I always had a choice, and I made mine. I chose to stay happy and focus on the future. I got my new job only a few days after leaving my ex-company. Then, I borrowed money from a close friend and family for our wedding because I had almost no saving left after 3 months working for no money. We decided to make it simple yet romantic. Therefore, the “gifts" from our friends and family was enough to cover most of the cost. Actually, later some of our friends followed our way to hold their weddings because it turned out to be cool way to get married

At the same time, I decided not to file a complaint with Minister of Manpower about my ex-boss. I chose to trust him and gave him some time to settle his debt to me as a friend. In new company, I worked even harder to have a fresh start-over and to make up for the bad experience in my very first job. As you may be able to guess already, 2 months later, my ex-boss managed to sell his company and settle his debt with me, and my new boss also decided to increase my salary 15%.

Therefore, my point in that story is a big “IF". If I had chosen to cancel our wedding due to financial problem, would I have my small family, which gives me so much strength right now? If I had chosen to bring my ex-boss to MoM, would I still have him as my friend now and would I be able to bring out the best in him? And if I had chosen to work less because of my bad experience, would my boss increase my salary?

In life, we certainly don’t have a choice of what our fate will bring to us, but we certainly have a choice of how to response to it. No matter what happens, the moment we say “I don’t have a choice", we actually make a choice of “making no choice". Though it’s a choice as well, is it the best or better choice we can make?

The above story is just one of my stories. I can’t tell you all of them in this post, but I can tell I’m a typical “unlucky guy". Since I was young, I usually encounter “unexpected events". However, fate gave me a greatest gift of making choices. Thanks to that gift, I’m always able to choose to be a better and stronger person every time I come back from a setback.

My friend, I believe you know that I’m not the only one who has the gift. We all have. If you feel that this post means something to you, I hope you remember you always have a choice. Yes, we always have a choice. No matter what our fate may bring to us, it’s just to make us choose - choose to be better or worse. What happens doesn’t matter; it’s our choice that makes a difference. Fate gave Hitler a gift, the traits of a great leader, and he chose to use it to destroy the world. Fate gave Oprah Winfrey a curse of unimaginably difficult young life, and she chose to use it to heal people’s hearts. Thus, it isn’t about right choices or wrong choices, but it’s about making the choices that make us a better person.

Energy Boosts Motivation -- The Ideal Way To Start Your Day

Motivation needs energy before it can empower you to achieve your targets, and how much energy you start the day with depends very much on how you start your day.

If you've ever overslept, skipped breakfast, been late for work and made a mess of everything you've touched all day, you won't need much convincing that things started to go wrong before your feet had even touched the floor, and left you trying unsuccessfully to put things right all day.

On the other hand, when you're confident and full of energy, the chances are you've felt good from the moment you got out of bed.

A good start to the day can help you make good use of opportunities, deal effectively with difficulties, feel full of zest and energy, and get more fun from everything you do -- and making a good start isn't not down to chance.

So how can you make sure you start the day the way you want to? Here are 5 tips to help you take -- and keep -- control.

Get up half an hour earlier. Forget any negative associations getting up early might have ever had for you. This time, it's about making sure you start the day by making time for YOU.

You can't cram the other 4 tips into an already overcrowded schedule, so if you want your day to go the way you want it to, it's worthwhile to take an extra 30 minutes to prepare for it. Besides, these techniques are going to be enjoyable -- this is YOUR time, so luxuriate in it!

Stand in front of an open window and do some breathing exercises. Start with your feet flat on the floor and your arms by your sides, then rise SLOWLY on to your toes. As you do, breathe in as deeply as you can and bring your arms slowly upwards till your hands meet above your head, then slowly, gently and without strain, reach as far upwards as you can.

Staying in that position, hold your breath for a count of 5, then slowly breathe out as you return to your previous position. It's a good idea to start by doing this 5 times, though if you want to you can gradually start doing more.

If you find you need some extra energy or inspiration through the day, you might want to look for a chance to repeat this exercise, even if the only place that you can find's the rest room! Learning to control your breathing's an important part of relaxation, stress control, clear thinking and vitality, and you just can't take too many opportunities to practice it.

Have a light but nourishing breakfast. Too many calories will make you sluggish - but too few, or none at all, can adversely affect your mental energy. Experiment until you find what's right for you - fruit juice, toast and marmalade are a good place to start.

As you enjoy your breakfast, think of something exhilarating that you plan to do today (and if you haven't anything exhilarating lined up yet, this is a good moment to start making plans!).

Spend a few minutes feeling grateful for some of the good things in your life.

What are the things that make you feel the happiest? What are the things, and who are the people, that you really love? What do you most like to do? Where do you most like to be? Think of some things that make you feel on top of the world, and feel deep gratitude.

No matter what your situation, there's something or someone in your life you can be grateful for. Even if things are so bad that the only thing you have to hold to is a dream, be thankful for that. Many people live empty lives for lack of a dream worth getting out of bed for, so treasure yours.

What really makes your heart sing? Focus on it.

Spend a few minutes thinking about the main ambition that you have. It doesn't matter if that's how you earn your living right now. Focus on the things you want to do. Dwell lovingly on every detail of your goal, and how great you're going to feel when you achieve it. Even if what you're doing at the moment's just the day-job that' lets you pay the bills for now, see whatever you have to do today as step towards achieving your ambition.

Plan at least one step that you can take today towards your main ambition.
Even if your schedule's already crammed full with the things you really have to do today, you'll do them all much faster, better and with a lighter heart for knowing that at least some time will be devoted to your dearest dream. Besides, the only way you'll ever get there will be by taking steps in that direction, so right now's as good a time and place as any to begin!

)When you start to practice these techniques you'll probably find yourself developing individual variations on them. That's fine - the important thing's to find what works for you, and helps you start your day with all the feelings of energy, motivation, confidence, vitality, self-worth and empowerment which will help you make the most of every opportunity that comes your way.

Sixty-Seconds to Renewed Energy

Need a quick boost to get you moving? Something you can do right here and now to give you a zap of instant energy? Our sixty-second energy boosters are sure to do the trick!

DRINK COLD WATER
Drink small amounts of cold water every thirty minutes throughout your day. Studies have shown that doing so sends clear and immediate signals to the brain to increase your level of energy and alertness. On the go? Bring an insulated cup or bottle with you to keep the water chilled.

GET IN TOUCH WITH MINT
Chew strong peppermint or spearmint gum or mints or inhale a few drops of spearmint essential or eucalyptus on a tissue. Oils such as these have been show to trigger mental alertness while at the same time decreasing fatigue. On study in particular found that driver's were better able to stay focused and alert when exposed to peppermint.

ACCEPT HOW YOU FEEL
Oftentimes we fight against our feelings, trying to talk ourselves out of being tired or simply by not accepting it at all. This only adds tension and pressure to the situation. Instead of thinking, "I can't be tired. I have too much to do!" accept the fact. Realize that your energy might be a little less than stellar and make the best of the work ahead.

DRINK GREEN TEA
Drink green tea. In addition to being a much healthier choice than sugary juices or soft drinks, green tea contains the amino acid theanine, which acts as a stress-reducer and increases alertness. It's such a useful ingredient that the FDA has recently approved a type of this chemical to be added to foods.

PUT ON THE BLINDERS
While we can all hope our days run smoothly without interruption or wasted time, the truth is something different. A flood of distractions, interruptions, and resource-wasters can easily steal away the better part of your day.

To avoid this trap, take control of your day: create a list of priorities for each day to keep you focused, close the door when in the office, and make a list of common time-wasters to help you sweep them out of your routine.

Why Motivation?

Why worry about motivation? Why spend your scarce time learning about the subject or the particular methods behind making it work for you? These questions that must be answered before you can truly tap into your inner drive and enjoy all the rewards mastering motivation can offer.

What Is Motivation?
In essence, motivation is the internal impulse to take action. It is the feeling triggered within that compels you to do something. From brushing your teeth in the morning to following through on your lifelong goals and dreams, motivation is at the root of every action you take.

Without motivation, the progress of the world would come to a grinding stop. Nothing could improve for every individual capable of working toward change would lack the motivation to move forward with their plans.

On a more personal note, progress within your own life would be impossible without the motivation to do something about what you wanted. Your health, career, money, relationships...nothing would move forward without an internal drive.

Why Master Motivation?
However, you do make progress in these areas. You do take actions each day. The reason is motivation. But there's just one problem. The motivation that is making you take actions isn't being used to its potential. It's running on autopilot and therefore can't begin to offer the life-changing rewards and benefits locked within.

By learning how to control your internal drive, you can launch every area of your life to levels never before imagined. When you know which steps to take - and which to avoid - you can literally tap into a power that compels you to do whatever it takes to create the life you've always wanted to live.

All of this is possible by learning the secrets of motivation.

Where Do I Start?
The first step to controlling your motivation - after fully understanding its true power - is to make a decision. Motivation requires a target. Have you ever encountered someone who was powerfully motivated but didn't have a clue as to what they wanted to do? Not only is this unlikely but it's actually impossible. Triggering your internal drive is only possible when you have a clear end in mind.

So what do you want? This is the question you must answer. When the thought enters your mind, make sure it is as specific as possible. So specific, in fact, that anyone off the street should be able to read your goal and know without a doubt what you're after. When you've reached this point, the motivation you need to change your life can begin to take root.

The ability to get yourself to take action is the single greatest skill in life. Nothing can begin to compare in impact or reach. With this skill in hand, the life you've imagined can be yours.

Quick & Easy Stress Busters

Not only does stress cause wear and tear on the body but it also wears down your motivation as well. With worry, tension, and frustration surging through your veins, it's nearly impossible to focus on changing anything about your life. However, with a few steps in place you can take control of the situation and replace the stress with energy and drive.

Vacation...at Home
Bring your vacation home with you. If you just recently visited the tropics, create an oasis on your deck with plants and objects that remind you of your trip. Hang pictures from your vacation all around and play the music you listened to while relaxing the day away in the sun.

Take a Warm Bath
An hour before you head to bed, take a warm bath to release your tension and free your mind of worry and distraction. To get these results even faster, place a rolled towel under your neck and breathe deeply, feeling the stress leave your body with each exhale.

Create Quiet Time
You might enjoy the company of your television or radio, but for instant stress-relief a little quiet time is a must. Turn off everything around you, sit in a cozy chair, and enjoy the silence. If you can't find an opportunity during the day, wait until everyone is asleep at night and stay up a little later to get in your time of silence.

Start with a Walk
Start your day with a walk around the block. This will give you the chance to enjoy the sunshine and warm weather, clear your mind of needless worry, and help you organize your thoughts for the upcoming workday.

Get into Yoga
Check out a video or book from your local library to learn the basics of yoga or some other type of activity that offers similar benefits of the mind and body. In this way, you'll ease your stress as well as build your muscle tone and cardiovascular system.

Rent a Funny Movie
Laughter is not only the best medicine but it's also a powerfully effective stress-reliever. With the help of a funny movie, you can let someone else trigger those all-important bursts of laughter necessary to reduce stress-causing hormones and boost your immune system

Positive thinking

Joe Dostal
Positive thinking is not only a state of mind but also a way of life. Positive thoughts help people to achieve their goals, to become happy and to remain healthy. This is because positive thoughts help people to develop an optimistic attitude towards things. Just as what is stated in the old saying, the body can achieve what the mind perceives. This means that you can achieve anything if you have a positive attitude. Doubts and fears are the worst enemies of positive thinking. Doubts and fears deter the ability of an individual to succeed. This is also one of the reasons why a great number of individuals have sorted to suicide since they feel that theirs is a hopeless case. This could have been avoided if only they have developed a positive attitude towards matters that affects their lives. How to Develop Positive Thinking?I always remember what our former rector at school used to say that salvation is the responsibility of each of us. He said that if you want to be saved then you have to do just what is expected from a good Christian. (You may not agree with me since we may not belong to the same sect but...) Same idea goes with positive thinking. Other people just cannot develop the optimistic attitude for you. You have to be the one to develop the optimistic attitude in you. But how do you do this? Developing a positive attitude is all about mind setting. You have to be always optimistic about things that are happening to you including those negative ones. I know it is easier said than done but with continuous practice you will be able to develop positive attitude. It would also help if you accompany positive attitude with faith because with God you can do things that you would not dreamt possible. Why you need to have faith? We are only human and sometimes no matter how positive we are there would always be times when fears and doubts sets in. Faith in God can help you during such times. Knowing that there is someone more powerful than anything else in this world that is helping you can increase hope in you that everything will turn out all right. Pray always because prayers bring in amazing results. It makes you feel more at peace and happier.Quotes for Positive ThinkingThere are lots of sayings or quotes that promote positive attitudes. You may turn to them for inspiration and for courage. Sometimes having attitude building quotes hanged on your walls, pasted on your notebook, inserted in your organizer or placed on top of your table helps to make you feel better. These quotes increase self-esteem and of course if you have a high self-worth then you will perform better at your work, develop a much favorable relation with others and you will feel much happier. Likewise, quotes for positive thinking also helps in boosting positive attitude. How? These quotes remind you that life is full of possibilities so we should not lose hope. Here are some quotes created by great people who have weathered out tough times simply by having positive thoughts:· A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty. -

By Winston Churchill (a British Orator, author and Prime Minister during World War II.) · A man is but the product of his thoughts what he thinks, he becomes. - By Mahatma Gandhi (an Indian Philosopher, internationally renowned for his doctrine of nonviolent protest, 1869-1948).
